20 useful Spanish phrases

This week we are travelling to Tenerife woohooohooo 🙂 Let’s catch up with few basic Spanish phrases 🙂 We do want to impress locals!

Say Hello

Good morning – Buenos días (bway nos  dee ahs)

Good afternoon – Buenas tardes (bway nahs  tar days)

Good evening – Buenas noches (bway nahs  noh chayss)

Hi – Hola (oh  lah)

Be polite

How are you? – ¿Cómo está? (coh moh  es tah)

Good, thank you – bien, gracias (bee ayn, grah cee ahs)

Please – Por favor (por  fah vohr)

Thank you – Gracias (grah cee ahs)

Nice to meet you –  Mucho gusto” (moo choh goos toh)

Useful phrases

Do you speak English? – ¿Habla inglés? (ahblah  een glays)?

Where is…? – ¿Dónde está? (dohn des tah)

How much does it cost? – ¿Cuánto cuesta? (cwahn toh cways tah)?

What time is it? – ¿Qué hora es? (kay orah ess)?

Do you understand? – ¿Entiende? (ayn tee ayn day)?

I understand – Yo entiendo (yoh  ayn tee ayn doh)

I don’t understand – Yo no entiendo (yoh  noh ayn tee ayn doh)

Restaurant

A table for two – Una mesa para dos  (oona may sah pah rah dohss)

I want… – Yo quiero… (yoh  kee ayr oh)

I would like… – Me gustaría… (may goo stah ree ah)

The check – La cuenta (lah cwayn tah)
